Mongolia
Mongolia’s allure lies in its raw beauty, deep traditions, and the sense of vast openness that offers travelers an escape into a land where nature reigns supreme and nomadic life continues to thrive.
A vacation in Mongolia offers an unparalleled adventure into the heart of Central Asia, where ancient traditions meet vast, untamed landscapes. Known for its boundless steppes, towering mountains, and the iconic pristine Gobi Desert, Mongolia provides a unique opportunity to experience the nomadic way of life that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. The nomadic culture & lifestyle, with its traditional gers (yurts) dotting the steppe, embodies simplicity and harmony with nature. The Naadam Festival and the ancient practices highlight the deep connection between the Mongolian people and their land. Here, beauty is found in vast open spaces where the sky feels endless, in the stillness of its deserts, the warmth of its nomads, and the echoes of history carried by the winds over the steppe. It’s a place where nature reigns supreme and life remains refreshingly simple and profound.
Join us in our nomadic expedition to Mongolia and immerse yourself in vast, untouched landscapes and ancient traditions. We have timed our trip during the Naadam festival – the most important and vibrant sporting and cultural festival of Mongolia that celebrates Mongolian independence, heritage and identity. So that you can experience the true spirit and culture of Mongolia in this trip.
Our trip begins in Ulaanbaater- the capital city of Mongolia. From here we will embark on a grand Nomadic road trip through the vast and diverse landscape of Mongolia. We will first visit the Khustai National park to see the wild Takhi horses, then get a dose of Mongolian history in the old capital of Kharakhorum. From Kharakhorum, we will proceed to Orkhon Valley to enjoy alpine valleys and riverside landscapes. Then we will visit the ancient site of Ongii monastery before going further down to the Gobi desert to check out some stunning desert landscapes. From Gobi desert, we will journey to the beautiful Yol Valley (also known as Eagle Valley) while experiencing Naadam ceremonies in the nearby town, before driving back to Ulaanbaatar for our last night.
- Live the nomadic way of life: Stay in traditional Mongolian Gers (Yurts) and experience life as the nomads do.
- Explore the legendary Dinosaur Cliffs: Visit the iconic Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs in the heart of the Gobi Desert.
- Connect with local herders: Spend time with a yak-herding family and glimpse their age-old traditions.

- All hotels and Ger Camps in Mongolia are equipped with very basic facilities – the luxury and comforts that we are used to in our other trips might not be available in the properties here. However, we have selected the best properties even amidst these basic ones.
- Many Camps in the interiors of Mongolia do not have ensuite bathroom facility. Instead they have common/shared bathroom facilities. Which is why the properties have been mentioned accordingly in our itinerary
- Airport transfers will be group transfers as Chinggis Khan International airport is 50 km outside Ulaanbaatar city – we would request you to consult with us before booking your flights as multiple airport transfers will logistically not be possible owing to the distances.
- The hikes included in this trip are relatively easy and leisurely with easy uphill climbs. However, the hike to Ulaantsutgalan waterfall and riverside will be difficult for individuals with knee issues or mobility issues.
- Domestic flight schedule from Dalandzadgad to Ulaanbaatar may change closer to trip date – we will update our itinerary according to this schedule.
Naadam celebrations schedule will be revealed closer to the trip date – we might have to shuffle our itinerary a bit in order to include atleast one Naadam event. However, we will cover all that has been mentioned in the itinerary.
NOTES ON TRAVEL & ROAD CONDITIONS
- Mongolia’s countryside is wonderfully remote and largely untouched, which means that many roads are unpaved dirt tracks, with only short stretches of tarmac along the way. This is part of what makes the landscapes feel so raw and extraordinary.
- Some drives — particularly to and from the Orkhon Valley — will include bumpy sections and longer travel times (approximately 3+ hours each way). To ensure this never feels overwhelming, we’ve planned shorter driving days where possible, regular breaks, and most importantly, comfortable vehicles with very low occupancy.
- By limiting each car to just three guests, we ensure a smoother, less tiring journey — allowing you to arrive each day with energy to truly enjoy Mongolia’s remarkable scenery and culture.
