(Istanbul, Pamukalle, Kusadasi and Cappadocia)
Cappadocia had me at ‘Hello’!
It doesn’t take much more than that to fall in love with a land that’s been described as a song. A song created by rain and wind that’s been sung for thousands of years.
It’s got hot air balloon rides at dawn, and underground settlements and caves waiting to be explored.
Cities, empires, and religions have risen and fallen from the unique cave dwellings of Cappadocia and you get to actually experience the real thing when you stay in a cave hotel on our visit here.
You are also in for a gastronomical treat when you sample local fare at a Cappadocian house in Mustafapasa.
And then, top everything off with a whirling dervish performance.
But, let’s go back to the beginning, because we begin our trip in the historical city of Istanbul.
Istanbul is everything you have read about, everything you have dreamt about, and more!
It’s a magical city. It draws you in with its history, its magnificent architecture, its spice markets, and in more recent times, its rocking night life.
It clings to its past and yet is not afraid to duel with the future.
We spend four nights in Istanbul, so that you can soak up the atmosphere, take a ride across the Bosphorus, shop, eat, and do all the wonderful things that your mind conjures up when you think of Istanbul. Maybe take a belly dancing class?
Then, we fly you to the coastal city of Kusadasi where we visit the ancient city of Ephesus.
Ephesus is the site of a succession of ancient civilizations and is considered one of the greatest outdoor museums of all times.
With two nights in Kusadasi, we move on to Pamukkale, which literally means ‘Cotton Castle’.
The travertine pools make for a surreal landscape and after all that walking and shopping you have earned the right to soak at the thermal spa!
We spend a night in Konya to rest for the night.
And then, just like that, you are on the seventh day of the trip and magical moments in Cappadocia are soon to be upon you.
We promise a level of exclusivity and the opportunity to connect with like-minded travellers in a relaxed setting.
Turkey has become a major tourist attraction over the years and hotels, tours, etc., have all developed to cater to this surge.
We hate the large ‘package tourist’, character-less hotels and buffet meals – of which Turkey has plenty!
We have personally picked some of the better properties for our holiday.
A trip to Cappadocia would be incomplete without staying in a Cave Hotel! We stay in a beautiful one in Uchesar.
While some meals are included, some aren’t – so we don’t end up eating just large buffet-style meals that taste the same.
Come, join WeGoBondon a 10 day and 9 night soujourn to Turkey.
